In April 1951, the Federal Government abruptly evicted Raymond and Clara Irwin from their ancestral farm in Butler County, Ohio to build a manufacturing plant that centralized the processing of uranium to feed the buildup of nuclear weapons during the cold war.

 

Serendipitous Move

Given 60 days to vacate, Raymond and Clara began an urgent search. A loose connection to central Ohio connected them with a real estate agent who showed them a beautiful farm just outside of Marysville, Ohio on the edge of the great Bear Swamp.
